I am constantly amazed at the healing power of raw and living foods. This past weekend I attended a raw food workshop and one of the participants shared the reason she had switched to a raw food diet.
The participant is a grandmother who lives in Portland, Oregon. She had recently visited her doctor and was diagnosed with a cancerous tumor on her side. Her doctor recommended surgery. She told the doctor that she did not want to treat her condition by means of surgery. Her doctor responded “If you don’t have surgery, you’re going to die.” The woman informed her doctor that she wasn’t going to have surgery and she wasn’t going to die. In February of 2007, she started eating a 100% raw food diet. The tumor began to shrink. Then, she incorporated green smoothies (blended fruit and vegetable juices) into her regimen. Her tumor began shrinking dramatically. Three months later, the tumor was almost gone. When the woman went back to see her doctor, the doctor asked her what she was doing. The woman told the doctor that she was drinking spinach smoothies every day. The doctor remarked that the smoothies sounded gross.
I don’t know about you, but if I had to choose between surgery, drugs and radiation versus the delights of a raw food diet and green smoothies, it would be no contest. Now, am I saying that raw foods and green smoothies cured this woman’s cancer? I am not a doctor and I do not make any claims regarding the healing power of food or natural remedies in the cure of diseases. However, you have the right to question the common practices of mainstream medicine and nutritional information and make choices about your own health. I leave it up to you, the reader, to come to your own conclusions.
I congratulate this courageous woman for daring to think differently. She has opened up a whole new world of possibility for herself. I love hearing stories like this because it makes my determination stronger and gives me a sense of hope for our future.
